Biking Tryst 7

This is my concluding tryst with bike. The stream of joyous ride of Harley has me in a trance. I am still unable to digest the imagination that Harley had showered on me via the Castrol contest.

I was reminded of a great biker friend of mine old 1990’s aka Brainy Chawla.
Brainy

I  searched the facebook and was lucky to find him there. I can never thank facebook much, since it is due to facebook that I was able to connect old friends.

It was 1990 and I was in need of a scooter in Patna. I had searched a paper ad and went to buy a second hand two month old Bajaj scooter.

First sight of scooter told me it longed to come to me. One small folding kid seat was made in front of the seat. This was just perfect. Eldor son would sit on the front seat and at back seat my dear wife would sit with younger one.

My friend Brainy too was with me to finalize the deal. He was expert in these dealings. He got all details checked from the dealer of the scooter.

Brainy
The seller of bike had given post-dated checks to the dealer and he could have duped me, only thanks to Brainy, we deducted the amount unpaid to dealer and saved the hassle. It looked as if he had purchased the scooter and got made the kid seat for me only.

This scooter remained with me till 2001. It’s memory takes me down to my old days, where it had never never got punctured even. I had excellent smooth ride with it.

One occasion I think my fate had me to have severe accident, as I was moving towards incometax golambar,  infront of Hotel Ashoka, a vip ambassador car came screeching and hit the side of my scooter. I was thrown over, but luckily I was unhurt and scooter’s handle had slight misshaped, which I got rectified at service station.

One occasion I remember my eldor son, while travelling on small front seat had quipped, " Dad, when I grow up, I will buy a car and drop you at your office in my car."

It was this scooter only which had dauntlessly served my full family in all thick and thin, and as I write this I feel sad for it, how could I have sold it for a meager 3000/-.It was priceless. Afterall it was witness to my struggle period.

Biking Tryst 5

Taking the last sip of coke I proceeded to the table of Captain.

I could clearly sense Captain to be in jovial mood. Fool and Captain both recognized me instantly. We exchanged surprise and greetings, though Captain was little upset that I hadn’t informed him of my arrival in Pune.
When he heard of my freedom and commitment to Harley, the Harley way, he let it pass.

I took out my diary to jot down interesting aspects of biking from my dear Captain.

I am putting up the detailed talk below.

The session ran thus:

Your Real name and your pseudonym that you like to be associated with or called?

My real name is Animesh K. Mishra but friends call me with many names like Ani, Any Mesh, Mishra, Baba, Pandit jee and yes, my brothers call me Maalik :). Indifriends know me as "A".
Initially I wrote with my original name, but when I entered to the world of Fiction, I took the name, The Storyteller. However, now I write as Captain Awesome.

This crave for Bikes, was it since childhood or got the dazzle for it in your youth ?

I had this passion for the roaring machine since childhood. Even before I started going to school. I started riding at the age of 12 years and my first bike was Rajdoot.

Name of the Biker group you dream to be associated with?

Bulleteer. Unfortunately they are limited to Bangalore only. Wish they extend themselves to other parts of India, specially Pune.

What bike has impressed you the most?

Goes without saying, Bullet. Officially known as Royal Enfield.

Which is your favorite place to ride ?

Any hilly area. My dream is to ride on Rohtang Pass on my bullet someday.

Would you like your girlfiend to be a great biker too, like yourself, or just an enjoying companion at back seat, a non driver ( if you feel it's too personal you can say N.A.) ?

:) I'll take the liberty to change it to "wife". And, yes I'd love to see her as a biker. But of course, getting a companion like her on the back seat is another great feeling :)

What steps do you think are utmost necessary to promote Bikers in India?

First, make bikes affordable. There are too many talented bikers in India, but can't afford good bikes. Then, we need more events like we have Himalayan Car Rally. And most important, someone needs to tell them that biking is not just MTV Roadies. Its much much more than that.

Do you think Indian version of stunt ride event like Nitro Circus, that rocked the world, should be planned and made in India too, and will it be successful, and if called to take part in it, will you participate?

Answers to all question: A big YESSSSSSSSS

Any advice for young kids who wish to enter the Bikers fraternity?

Learn safety tips first. Enjoying is as important as safety. Helmets are not burdens, but life-savers.

Anything else you would like to Say?

Ride and Let Ride :) It's fun.

Fool, Captain and Myself took leave for the day, though parting was a little difficult. Fool wanting me to come to Bangalore with him, and Captain wanting me to stay in Pune for some days, but I was committed to dear Harley, and it had another mind of it’s own.

My trance was broken by the voice of waiter putting water in the glass at the table,

“What would you like to have sir”.

“One coke,” I said curtly, not wanting to miss the interesting conversation.

Waiter tauntingly “Anything else with coke sir,” in a voice laden with smirk, on my not ordering any high spirits.

I didn’t want to spoil my mood with extra blabbering, so I just waved him away.

Captain continued, “Have you ever slept in your garage, for the fault of your bike.”

Fool, nodding with disbelief, “gosh, no dude.”

Captain with a sad tone, “ I had put a non branded mobile oil, in the bike, and bike had stopped midway on my return home. I had to drag the bitch all the way to my home, and lo, behold, all tired and exhausted I park the bloody bike in the garage, and next I find myself locked from outside. My beloved, thinking I had some booze, had punished my very soul.”

Fool approvingly, “I understand the trauma, and the mosquitos………”

Captain cutting him short, “don’t remind me of the mosquitos dude. since then I am always particular not to be careless of my bike’s day to day needs. When I can afford mineral water to drink, my bike too should get Castrol. ”

Fool nodding “right bro. saving little, costs more in the long run.”

This reminded me of my dear Harley waiting impatiently outside for me to return.

I had heard a lot of Captain as a great skilled biker and I was dying to have an interview session on biking.

Waiter brought my coke, taking sips I was planning to begin my intro session.

Biking Tryst 3

I was beginning to read the thoughts of my beloved Harley.

It’s undiminishing pleasures in seeing another Harley pass by. It could sit and talk to another one for hours at a stretch.

It would completely forget that I was it’s owner. I envied it, at having full control of my mind and body, and actually it was my sole owner, not me in true sense of the term.

Harley parked itself at a reserved parking space for a Harley, at a Pune Bar.

So many times I had told her, I have left beer, but It kept trying it’s stunts on me.

There I was, in front of a bar, about to enter, just to show my Harley, I regarded her endeavor in full spirits.

I entered the bar, to have coke and only coke. My attention was diverted by the loud talks at the table next to me.

“Captain, I can’t believe, you have just sent your wife to her mother’s place, and next second straight off, you are gulping the utmost atrocious beverages here.”

Captain, with calm serenity, “Fool, you will never understand ma bwaa,”

I had heard of Captain and Fool, a lot, but I will be meting them here, I hadn’t thought of it even.

I know suspense is killing, but it's destiny, I can't help it. will surely continue tomorrow.

I had taken brief lessons of bike riding from Riders Edge.

I am very particular of my passion. I am lax on essential worldly duties, but when it comes to my passion, I am Mr. Perfect.

Just that I was at my enigmatic Harley’s disposal, I cared nuts of the world. The smell of the road running behind me, the trees swishing by, the birds flying, all had their envious eyes on me, or was it my dear Harley. I couldn’t help it. I was enjoying their envy.

I just dreaded some envious chick in all leather, would turn up out of the blue skies, demanding a ride to the bar. I was firm, I would give a lift, only if she met the Harley standards. After all, I couldn’t be giving lift to any Tom and Harry on the road.

Enjoying the gushing winds, My chubby Harley stopped at a spectacular spot, at a turn on the hilly road.

The sun was about to set.
I parked my Harley at an open space by the side, to savor the scenic beauty of the moment.

I was free, and the setting sun too, was wishing me the heartiest of wishes on my biking tryst.

Biking Tryst

My tryst with biking.

I am attempting to pen, the desires that had been buried long ago in some remote corner of my heart.
The responsibilities, the burden of the family had long side tracked them into a burial ground, never to be ignited again.
Who knew the fate had it otherwise. I could never have dreamt of Madmeoselle Harley Davidson to be greeting me with her gorgeous glamour and smile bewitching.

I, adorned in the full gear of Harleys, Helmet too, was tested to fit my head, and then taken, because, I knew very well the importance of fit in head of helmet to be effective. My wicked muse on traffic inspectors, checking the persons wearing helmet is misfit and then giving them tickets for a misfit helmet. Ninety percent bikers would be ticketed daily I mused.

I was all geared up to begin my great escape into the wilderness. Me, my leather and my Harley.
My heart beats in sync. With the sound of engine running.  Aimless my travails started, and I myself not knowing where I would land, or my purpose in life. Just wander away freely, wherever my charming Harley planned to take me. My full mind was at their complete disposal.

Friends, stay tuned, to witness the tryst into wilderness, where Harley is taking me. My adventure has begun.courtesy Castrol contest at indiblogger
